2013 Fall/Winter, Shopping Tips

On My Fall Wishlist

The return of pumpkin spice lattes and football can only mean one thing – fall is here! As far as footwear trends go, there are a number of fun choices that will freshen up your wardrobe, from boyfriend shoes to pointy flats and cutout booties. Here are a few of the shoe styles I’m currently looking to pick up for fall. What’s on your fall wishlist?

Western-Inspired Ankle Boots

Even though I’m from Kansas (or perhaps, BECAUSE I am), I never hopped on the western style bandwagon. I’m more of a city girl – quilted fabrics and paisley always made me feel a little too “Little House on the Prairie”. But for some reason this fall, I feel like experimenting with a cute western-inspired bootie, like this Ash ‘Jalouse’ ankle boot. This boot borrows the traditional shape of a cowboy boot but rendered in supple grey suede. It would work well as a transitional boot, when worn with skinny jeans or a summer dress topped with a cozy scarf.

Flat Over-The-Knee boots

I’m drawn to fashion that pushes the envelope yet still remains practical, and flat over-the-knee boots fit the bill perfectly. Equestrian boots are never out of style, and this Aldo ‘Mecardo’ boot provides all the chutzpah you could ask for while remaining wearable and versatile.

Pointy Toes

The most polished look of the season, pumps and flats with pointy toes have made a major resurgence. It also happens to be one of my favorites, as pointy toes flatter every body type and instantly upgrade any outfit. I recently scored a pair of Dolce Vita suede cap-toed flats from Ideeli (my new go-to flats!), but I’m still on the lookout for kicky single-sole pumps I can wear in place of my usual round-toe platforms. I’m close to snagging this wear-anywhere Nine West ‘Preppy’ pump with its sexy buckle strap design. Another contender is Anne Michelle’s suede and mesh d’orsay heel.
