Here is my number one must-have shoe this fall…the MIDORY PURPLE SUEDE ankle boot by Steve Madden. Some people would call it a “shootie”. It is a shoe that I could wear whether it’s warm or cold, thanks to the peep toe.
Is it a shoe, or a boot? Actually, it’s neither…and it’s both. And I love it! Shooties flatter ankles and they are making a major appearance in fall fashions…. (read more)
While menswear-inspired oxfords were hot last year, this year’s selection is more vivid and colorful, ranging from dramatic two-tone styles to bright colors like red, orange and yellow. Shooties and other menswear-inspired heels tend to feminize buckles, laces, loafers , oxfords and brogues.

How Do I Wear Them?
You can maximize your strong, “I am wo-man, hear me roar” look with a button-down shirt, vest and wide leg pants. However, my preferred look is to make it a study in contrasts by wearing either a pencil skirt w/thick black tights or skinny jeans, a frilly blouse, and big curls. You can even wear them with a slinky dress or 60’s-inspired shift for that extra va-va-voom! The shoes are strong enough on their own to give your look a sexy, confident boost.
Here are a few pictures of celebrities who have the whole shootie look figured out:
By staying all in one color, Kate Hudson elongates her slender frame. Usually, short boots tend to break up the leg, cutting them off at the ankles, but Kate’s gray ensemble keeps her looking long and lean.
Where do Ashlee’s legs end and her booties begin? By pairing ankle boots and pants of the same color — and everyone knows black is slimming — Ashlee creates the illusion of mile-long legs. Plus, the slim-fitted leggings tuck perfectly into her booties for a clean line and smooth silhouette.
White shoes? Why not! Sienna Miller is always breaking the rules. Most people wouldn’t think to pair white shoes with an all-black ensemble, but Sienna isn’t most people. Her creamy ankle boots work just fine, though. The pointy shape keeps your eye moving down her slender legs to the very tips of her toes. This is one former model who still knows how to work it!
It’s no secret that Mischa Barton loves fashion. It’s also no secret that she loves to experiment with fashion, too. Luckily, this is one experiment that’s a winner. The looser ankle keeps her calves from looking chunky. Plus, by keeping her hemline high, Mischa gives us a fabulous look at her killer legs.
